I know this, I have experienced this, Lord knows I have at times brought it upon myself. I have engaged for the purpose of proving something beyond the subject at hand. It was my ego, my need to be right, my need to have power and control. There was no winning after all was said and done, it was a lose-lose.
Carolyn Myss in Invisible Acts of Power explains third chakra ego energy by saying “We want to feel good about who we are even more than we want to feel good about what we have. But until we gain self-esteem, we will always feel socially and spiritually vulnerable, and focus on belongings and power plays rather than our inner power. We will measure our success by how much we control the external world and other people.”
I am grateful for this understanding that assists me in expansion beyond myself.
