Expectations can become so real! We invest our energy in illusions being sure these things will happen and be what we desire.
Anne Wilson Schaef in Meditations for Women Who Do Too Much explains the process this way. “Often, because of our expectations, we are completely oblivious to what is really going on in a situation. Because we are so wedded to what we think should be happening, or what we want to happen, we don’t see what is happening.”
Ultimately, I try to gain control by asserting my expectations.
