I have a sudden awareness of the depth of Lady Bird Johnson, I underestimated her and her insight, and all that they went through assuming their political roles. It is easier to focus on my own needs I find, than to try and open the gates that are holding the floodwaters back.
“Preoccupation with self can be the bane of our existence” the editors of Each Day a New Beginning write, “It cuts off any guidance from our higher power that may be offered…. it blocks whatever truths are trying to gain our attention. The paradox is that whatever our pain, it is lessened by turning our attention elsewhere, to anther’s pain or joy.”
We are all living our lives together. May we all be blessed today to free ourselves beyond the self, to share and embrace with one another.
