“I am convinced the longer I live, that life and its blessings are not so unjustly distributed (as) when we are suffering greatly we are so inclined to suppose.”
[Mary Todd Lincoln]

Living prominently within the shadow of the civil war I often think how Mary and so many others found their place of spiritual order in their lives, or if there was one.
“We tend to think of the rational as a higher order, but it is the emotional that marks our lives” writes Merle Shain. “One often learns more from ten days of agony than from ten years of contentment.”

When I pray for peace Lord, I am asking to live within the peace of your heart.
May we all be blessed today to find that place within, the place of peace and sanctuary.
