“The shell must break before the bird can fly.”
[Alfred Lord Tennyson]

I watch the evolution of natural things from my sunroom windows. The caterpillars become magnificent butterflies gliding in air. The baby birds trust that after their shells open and they are exposed, they will fly.
Joan Chittister in her Monastic Way readings tells us that “There is a point in human development when the me who has been incubating for years simply breaks through its old excuses. Then you’re ready to live.”

Please bless us today to uncover the shields of false protection we have layered, so that our wings can fly.
