“Smells are surer than sounds and sights to make heart strings crack.”
[Rudyard Kipling]
I remember her bread perpetually rising on the corner of the wood stove as if it were a family member. It’s aroma like perfume, the essence of her love. Clearly it was at dinner time.
“There are four Powers: memory and intellect, desire and covetousness.” Leonardo da Vinci wrote. “The two first are mental and the others sensual. The three senses: sight, hearing and smell cannot well be prevented; touch and taste not at all.”
Breathe deep. Today I ask for memories that blessed our lives.
