“Smells are surer than sounds and sighs to make heart strings crack”
[Rudyard Kipling]

Smells explore us. Like the salt air, the freshly baked bread, the evergreen Christmas tree permeating our home with its presence. No matter where we are, we are brought back to somewhere, deep within, where the impression was previously left.
“From the moment man, woman, and child began to follow their noses, scent has been an irresistible magnet drawing the heart and imagination home” Sarah Ban Breathnach writes in Simple Abundance.… “A fragrant home is a simple pleasure, but one rich in the resonance of reassurance.”

Today I am thankful for the luxurious smells of the earth, home, and life, and ask that we would all be blessed to breathe in its magnitude.
