“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.”

[Henry David Thoreau]

I remember reading this in my 20s and having romantic poetic images of my life ahead. They were filled with naive understandings of the world and myself as well. I have experienced and aged, and I believe the life I imagined has served me well, there were guideposts all along the way.

Kent Nerburn in Simple Truths offers this message to us as we seek a life rooted in the heart and the spirit within. “If I can offer something of value, it is this: A vision of life that acknowledges our human condition while remaining hopeful about our human potential; a voice that speaks with compassion and empathy about the world in which we live; and a viewpoint that seeks a common ground from which to survey the vast and confusing landscape before us.”

I am grateful for all the experiences in life that lead me to seek a life that is whole, peaceful and loving. Today I ask that we would all be blessed to live our lives fully and thankfully, embracing the simple truths of our Divine Spirit within.
