“When we talk about being true to ourselves – being the persons we are intended to be – we are talking about gifts. We cannot be ourselves unless we are true to our gifts.”

[Elizabeth O’Connor]

Thomas Merton, the Trappist monk, writer, peace and civil rights activist wrote this in his journal in 1965 regarding a morning of awakening.

“.…the new awareness that I am not the object that they think I am or even that I think … and that the outer I must not assert itself anymore but must be glad to vanish, and yet there is no division between them, as there is no division between the surface of the pond and the rest of it. It is the reflection on the surface that seems to give it another being…”

On this new day, I ask that we be blessed to reflect the Light of all awakening.
